It is located in the heart of the Barrio Húmedo, with access to it through multiple streets.
It was one of the most important markets that were installed outside the city wall in medieval times.
A fire that occurred in February 1654 caused the destruction of part of the market and some blocks of farmhouses, so the construction of a new square was planned, which we can currently enjoy, with a slightly trapezoidal perimeter, reflecting the designs of the father Antonio Ambrosio in its first phase, and according to plans by Francisco del Piñal in the second, finishing its construction in 1677.
This beautiful square has several uses of interest. As in the past, the traditional weekly market is still held here, which takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Fruits, vegetables, vegetables, sausages, cheeses and clothes are sold.
